Crown Zenith came out on 20 January 2023 and it is the last set of the Sword & Shield era. It is also built differently from every other set: inside it there is a second collection, the Galarian Gallery, seventy cards with their own numbering that are not part of the main set. That is where 91% of the value lives.
We ran every card in the set through the DarkDex pricing engine and sorted by value. These are real single-card prices, Near Mint, the lowest available across sellers, updated on 7 September 2026.
In short. Giratina VSTAR GG69 leads at 340.63 €, followed by Mewtwo VSTAR GG44 at 267.30 € and Arceus VSTAR GG70 at 245.64 €. The seventy Galarian Gallery cards are worth 2,403.68 €; the 160 main set cards are worth 248. Prices as of 7 September 2026.
The ranking: the 20 most expensive cards in Crown Zenith
Every card in the set worth more than 33 €. Nineteen of the twenty have a number starting with GG.
The Galarian Gallery is the set
The numbers are blunt and worth reading twice:
| Cards | Value | Share | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galarian Gallery (GG01-GG70) | 70 | 2,403.68 € | 90.6% |
| Main set (#001-#160) | 167 | 248.07 € | 9.4% |
A hundred and sixty cards are worth less than a tenth. Seventy are worth nine tenths. And inside the main set a quarter of the value is one card: the Pikachu #160 at 60.44 €, which also happens to be the card that closes the ordinary numbering.
This is the only set we have measured where the card closing the numbering is also one of the most expensive. Everywhere else the two never coincide.
The flattest top end of any Sword & Shield set
Crown Zenith is unusual in a second way, and it is the one that matters most if you actually collect it. Its most expensive card is only 12.8% of the set:
| Set | Most expensive card | Share of set | Top three |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phantasmal Flames | Mega Charizard X ex 849.64 € | 60.4% | 85.4% |
| Fusion Strike | Gengar VMAX 1,314.45 € | 49.6% | 74.8% |
| Lost Origin | Giratina V 990.09 € | 47.9% | 65.2% |
| Silver Tempest | Lugia V 572.68 € | 39.9% | 53.9% |
| Evolving Skies | Umbreon VMAX 2,780.64 € | 31.8% | 54.3% |
| Crown Zenith | Giratina VSTAR 340.63 € | 12.8% | 32.2% |
Fusion Strike is half a set in one card. Crown Zenith is not: it has five cards above 100 €, sixteen above 50, twenty-seven above 20. The value is spread across the whole Gallery rather than parked on a single alternate art.
👉 In practice that means Crown Zenith is a set you can actually work through. There is no card that makes finishing it impossible, only a long climb.
Why the Giratina VSTAR costs 340 euro
The GG69 is the set's signature card, and on its own it is 12.8% of the total. That is a lot for one card and very little compared with sets built on a single chase: on Fusion Strike the top card is half the set.
It costs what it costs for the usual modern reason: a full-art illustration of a much-loved Pokémon, printed in the final set of an era that collectors stopped opening three years ago. Not tournament power, not a declared rarity level, just artwork and timing.
Two Pikachus, and what they say about the set
Crown Zenith has two Pikachus, and the comparison is worth making because it goes against expectation:
| Card | Number | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Pikachu (closes the main set) | #160 | 60.44 € |
| Pikachu (Galarian Gallery) | GG30 | 55.64 € |
Here the main set card beats the Gallery one, which is the opposite of everything else in the ranking. The #160 is not an ordinary card: it is the celebratory close of the last set of the era, and collectors treat it that way.
What is the rarest card in Crown Zenith
There is no official answer, because pull rates are not published. If you mean the signature card, it is the Giratina VSTAR GG69. If you mean the printing that closes the main numbering, it is the Pikachu #160, and for once that is also the most expensive card of the main set.
How many cards does Crown Zenith have
The main set has 159 official cards, plus the 70 of the Galarian Gallery, for 237 printings in total counting the special versions.
What it costs to complete Crown Zenith
Adding up the cheapest Near Mint copy of each of the 237 cards: 2,651.75 €. Inside that number there are two very different collections:
- the complete main set, 167 cards, costs 248.07 €
- the complete Galarian Gallery costs 2,403.68 €
- the median card costs 80 cents, the highest median of any Sword & Shield set we have measured
- take out the top twenty and the remaining 217 cards cost 661 €
That median is worth pausing on: 80 cents against 11 cents for most sets. Crown Zenith has almost no filler, because it was built as a best-of collection rather than a normal expansion.
In practice you spend more: shipping goes on top and the cards come from different sellers.
Heads up. Prices move constantly, and on an out-of-print set they move in jumps. These numbers are a snapshot of the market on 7 September 2026.
Crown Zenith against the rest of Sword & Shield
| Set | Cards | Cost to complete | Most expensive card |
|---|---|---|---|
| Evolving Skies | 237 | 8,757 € | Umbreon VMAX 2,780.64 € |
| Crown Zenith | 237 | 2,652 € | Giratina VSTAR 340.63 € |
| Fusion Strike | 284 | 2,648 € | Gengar VMAX 1,314.45 € |
| Lost Origin | 248 | 2,066 € | Giratina V 990.09 € |
| Silver Tempest | 245 | 1,434 € | Lugia V 572.68 € |
| Celebrations | 50 | 669 € | Base Set Charizard 190.64 € |
Singles or sealed
Crown Zenith is the one Sword & Shield set where sealed product still gets opened, because the Gallery pull rate makes it feel worth trying. But the maths has not changed: the complete main set costs 248 € in singles, and the Gallery has twenty-seven cards above 20 € that you would be chasing one pack at a time.
Singles are the predictable route: you read the price before you spend it, which is not something a sealed pack lets you do.
How to keep an eye on them
On DarkDex you add your Crown Zenith cards to your collection and the value updates itself, with every variant kept separate. With two parallel numberings and 91% of the value in one of them, keeping track by memory is not really an option.
