Temporal Forces: the most expensive Pokémon cards

Temporal Forces came out on 22 March 2024, and it is the most unusual set we have measured: it has no chase card. The most expensive one costs 103.78 €, the top three together are only 23% of the value, and the card in first place is a Gastly.

We ran every card in the set through the DarkDex pricing engine and sorted by value. These are real single-card prices, Near Mint, the lowest available across sellers, updated on 7 September 2026.

In short. Gastly #177 leads at 103.78 €, followed by Raging Bolt ex #208 at 60.63 € and Morty's Conviction #211 at 55.62 €. Only one card in the set is above a hundred euro. Completing everything costs 959.66 €, and the 162 base set cards cost 72. Prices as of 7 September 2026.

A common Ghost-type beats every ex in the set

The Gastly #177 is an Illustration Rare of a common Pokémon that does nothing in tournaments, and it is worth 103.78 €. The same Gastly, in the ordinary base set printing, costs 11 cents. Nine hundred and forty times, same card, same set.

Behind it come the illustrated Paradox Pokémon (Raging Bolt ex, Walking Wake ex, Gouging Fire ex, Iron Crown ex, Iron Leaves ex, Iron Boulder ex), all between 15 and 61 euro, and the Trainer full arts.

👉 It is the clearest example in the entire era of the rule that value follows the artwork: a set built around brand-new Paradox Pokémon, topped by a Gastly from 1996 because somebody drew it well.

A set where no single card is in charge

In almost every set the value is held up by one card: Fusion Strike is 50% its Gengar VMAX, Lost Origin 48% its Giratina. Temporal Forces is not:

Ten point eight per cent. The value is spread: one card above a hundred euro, four above forty, twelve above twenty-five. Nothing that forces a decision.

For a collector that is the difference between a set you finish and a set you chase. Temporal Forces you finish.

What is the rarest card in Temporal Forces

There is no official answer, because pull rates are not published. If you mean the signature card, it is the Gastly #177. And for once it nearly coincides with the printing that closes the numbering, which is the Raging Bolt ex #218 in gold at 11.50 €.

How many cards does Temporal Forces have

The set has 162 official cards and reaches 218 with the special printings.

What it costs to complete Temporal Forces

Adding up the cheapest Near Mint copy of each of the 218 cards: 959.66 €. The internal split is stark:

• the 162 base set cards cost 71.97 € in total
• the 56 special printings cost 887.69 €
• the median card costs 11 cents, and 154 of 218 are under one euro
• take out the top fifteen and the other 203 cards cost 379.13 €

Seventy-two euro for the complete base set of a 2024 set is cheap even by today's standards. And since no special card costs more than about a hundred euro, even the full collection stays a predictable expense rather than a gamble.

In practice you spend more: shipping goes on top and the cards come from different sellers.

The Paradox Pokémon, the set's own idea

Temporal Forces is built around the Paradox Pokémon, the ancient and future forms introduced in the video games. Six of them got an illustrated ex in this set, and they occupy most of the upper half of the ranking:

Six cards between 15 and 61 euro. That block on its own is 204.81 €, a fifth of the set, and it is the clearest illustration of why Temporal Forces has no chase card: the value is shared between six near-equals instead of collecting on one.

For a collector this is unusually friendly. Every one of those six is buyable, none of them requires a decision, and completing the group costs less than a single alternate art in most other sets.

Temporal Forces inside the Scarlet & Violet era

Here is something worth noticing: Temporal Forces costs more than Stellar Crown despite having no expensive card at all. The reason is exactly the distribution: fifty-six special printings each worth something add up to more than three cards worth a lot plus two hundred worth nothing.

Singles or sealed

Temporal Forces is still findable sealed, so the choice is open. The maths is the usual one though: the complete base set costs 72 euro in singles, less than eight packs.

Packs make more sense here than in most sets, and for a specific reason: with no single card absorbing all the value, the expected return of a pack is more evenly spread. In a set with a phenomenon card you are buying lottery tickets for one prize; here there are twelve cards above twenty-five euro that all count.
