Celebrations came out on 8 October 2021 for the 25th anniversary, and right now it is the set worth looking at more than any other: it is the exact precedent for the 30th anniversary set landing on 16 September 2026. Same idea, same structure, and five years of prices already on the record.
We ran every card in the set through the DarkDex pricing engine and sorted by value. These are real single-card prices, Near Mint, the lowest available across sellers, updated on 7 September 2026.
In short. The reprinted Base Set Charizard leads at 190.64 €, followed by Umbreon Star at 95.26 € and Mew #025 at 70.64 €. The 25 cards of the main set are worth 95.33 € together; the Classic Collection reprints are worth 574. Prices as of 7 September 2026.
The ranking: the 15 most expensive cards in Celebrations
Every card in the set above 6 €. This set has none of the usual tail of commons: the median card costs 1.86 €, seventeen times the median of an ordinary set.

It is what everyone is asking ahead of the 30th anniversary, and Celebrations is the only place where a measurable answer exists rather than an opinion. The 25th anniversary set reprinted twenty-five historic cards in its Classic Collection, exactly as the 30th will do with its thirty.
Five years on, here is how the two versions of the same card sit:

The reprint did not catch the original, and it did not become worthless either: a hundred and ninety euro for a card printed five years ago in a widely distributed set is a result very few modern cards can claim.
⚠️ The comparison has to be made inside one market. On the Italian market the same original costs 700.64 € and the reprint 295.64 €, which puts the ratio at 42% rather than 15%. Mixing the two markets produces a number that is simply false, and it is the single most common mistake in articles on this subject.

A set made of two sets
Celebrations is built unlike any normal expansion, and it is exactly the structure that repeats this year:

The twenty-five "new" cards of the set are worth under a hundred euro together, with the Mew #025 at 70.64 € making up three quarters of that on its own. All the rest of the value sits in the reprints of historic cards.
👉 Which is why, when the 30th anniversary set arrives, the part to watch will not be the new set: it will be its Classic Collection.
What is the rarest card in Celebrations
There is no official answer. If you mean the signature card, it is the reprinted Base Set Charizard. The more interesting case is the Umbreon Star at 95.26 €, the reprint of the Neo Destiny card: it is second in the set, and worth almost exactly what the entire 25-card main set costs (95.26 € against 95.33 €).
The Shining Magikarp at 43.25 € is the other card collectors chase, and it is worth knowing because Magikarp also appears among the thirty reprints of the 30th.
Why this set has no cheap cards
Every other set we measure has a long tail of commons at eleven cents. Celebrations does not: its median card costs 1.86 €, and only twenty-one of fifty cards sit under a euro.
The reason is structural. A normal expansion has 180 to 280 cards, most of them ordinary Pokémon and trainers printed to fill packs. Celebrations has fifty, and each one was picked: twenty-five anniversary cards plus twenty-five reprints of cards people already wanted. There is nothing in it to throw away, which is also why the complete set costs 669 € despite being the second smallest we have measured.
👉 It is worth keeping in mind for the 30th anniversary set, which is built the same way: a small set with no filler behaves differently from a big one with a chase card, and the total cost of completing it lands somewhere unexpected.
How many cards does Celebrations have
The main set has 25 official cards, plus the 25 of the Classic Collection and a handful of promos tied to the products.
Celebrations was distributed mostly inside sealed products rather than loose packs, and it still shows: card for card it is the hardest set to track down of any we have measured.
What it costs to complete Celebrations
Adding up the cheapest Near Mint copy of each of the 50 cards in the set: 669.37 €. Worth reading with its proportions:
- take out the top three and the other 47 cards cost 312.83 €
- take out the top fifteen and 48.64 € is left
- twenty-one of fifty cards are under one euro, but the median is still 1.86 €
- the top three are 53% of the set
No other set we have measured has a median this high. Celebrations has no filler: fifty cards chosen one at a time, and the prices show it.
In practice you spend more: shipping goes on top and the cards come from different sellers.
Heads up. Prices move constantly. These numbers are a snapshot of the market on 7 September 2026, and this set in particular may move in the weeks around the 30th anniversary release.
What happened to sealed Celebrations in five years
Loose cards are half the story. The other half is what happens to the boxes. Celebrations has been out of print for years, and its sealed product now sits at these levels:
- the Elite Trainer Box is at 305.70 €
- a single pack costs 45.64 €
- the Ultra-Premium Collection is at 1,000.64 €
Forty-five euro for a four-card pack is the price of something that is not made any more and that people still open hoping for the Charizard. It is the number to keep in mind when thinking about what happens to the 30th anniversary products a few years from now, and at the same time the reason why, today, buying Celebrations singles beats opening packs: the reprinted Charizard costs 190.64 €, and four packs cost 182 with no guarantee of anything at all.

Is Celebrations worth buying today

People collect it today for two different reasons: the Classic Collection, which is historic cards in an affordable form, and the twenty-five new cards, which are cheap and make a complete set reachable for under a hundred euro.
