1. What DarkDex is

DarkDex is a web application for managing a Pokémon card collection. You record the cards you own, with language, condition and quantity, and see what they are worth today; you keep track of the sets you are completing and which cards are still missing; you park the ones you would like to get in a wishlist.

Next to the application there is a public catalogue you can browse without an account: expansions, single cards with their current value, illustrators and Pokémon pages. If all you want is the value of one card, you do not need to sign up.

2. Who is behind it

DarkDex is run by Davide Mele, a private individual, as an independent project. There is no company behind it, no editorial team and no investors: there is one person who collects and who writes the code. The same name appears as data controller in the privacy policy, and it is who answers when you write to the address on the contact page.

The project is based in Rome, Italy. The idea dates to October 2025, development started in January 2026, and DarkDex has been growing a piece at a time since.

3. Why it exists

Keeping track of a collection by hand works while the cards are few. After that, knowing what you own and what it is worth becomes a question you can only answer one card at a time.

DarkDex answers it in one go. It is built for people who collect: the features are there to tell you what you have, not to suggest what to buy.

4. How it sustains itself

The project runs on a simple model, which we would rather state than leave you to guess.

• Subscriptions: DarkDex is free to use within limits, and anyone who needs more moves to a paid plan. This is the main source.
• Affiliate links: some links to external shops are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we receive a small commission and you pay nothing extra. They affect neither the values shown nor the order in which cards appear.
• Advertising: blog pages may carry third-party ads. When they do it will be stated here and in the cookie policy, and it will remain subject to your consent.

What we do not do: we do not sell user data and we do not hand your collection to third parties. What we collect and why is set out in full in the privacy policy.

5. What DarkDex is not

• Not a shop: cards are not bought or sold here, and we handle neither shipping nor payments between users.
• Not an appraisal: the values you see are indicative and meant to help you get your bearings. They are not an official valuation, they are not binding in a sale and they are not financial advice.
• Not official: DarkDex is an independent service, not produced, endorsed, sponsored by or affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, Creatures Inc. or Wizards of the Coast. Names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
