Why Chaos Rising went down

Chaos Rising came out a few months before the 30th Celebration (16 September) and still had "launch" prices. We cannot say it is the only cause, but the picture matches Phantasmal Flames and Pitch Black: when a celebration set that people have waited months for comes out, collectors' attention and money move there, and the sets released just before lose buyers right when the people who opened them try to sell their best cards.

The difference, for now, is the October recovery: Mega Greninja ex #116, Mega Dragalge ex and Roxie's Performance are back up, while the Mega Hyper Rare and the Ultra Rares are still at their lowest.

Is it worth buying Chaos Rising cards now?

For buyers this drop has been an opportunity. But nobody can say for sure whether it is over.

If you want a card to keep, Mega Greninja ex #116 at €134 costs €53 less than at the end of August, even if €14 more than the 12 October bottom. The Mega Hyper Rare #122 at €86 is still at its lowest: among the top cards it is the one that costs least today compared with before.

If you are buying to resell, the data calls for caution: one week of recovery is not yet a reversal. It is worth watching the trend for a few more weeks.

If you already own the cards, you have not lost anything until you sell. Your collection is worth less today than in August, but that is a market value, not a realised loss.
